Connecting to Real-Time Jams
Chordzy allows you to play music in real-time with other users. The audio is much faster than other video conferencing tools... but there are some caveats. Chordzy uses a direct P2P connection, similar to some video games. This means that some ISPs (internet providers) or home routers may interfere with your ability to connect to another user.
Common Error Messages:
Your router may limit connections
Indicates your ISP/router is making it more difficult to establish a connection (by remapping ports). In many cases, Chordzy is still able to connect to other users... but if you cannot connect, this is almost certainly the reason.
The most common cause for this is CGNAT. Try googling for "[Your ISP] CGNAT". For example, Starlink home/mobile packages use CGNAT (while the business package does not). If your ISP does not use CGNAT, then there is a configuration on the router that is doing the same thing. This is good news, since the problem can likely be solved by changing one or more of the following settings on your router (if available):
Enable static port mapping
Disable Symmetric NAT (use full-cone or endpoint-independent)
Enable UPnP or NAT-PMP
Manually forward ports 25678-25700 to your computer
The steps involved for each of these settings will depend on your router, but should be easy to find online.
WiFi is slower than wired
This message appears if you are on WiFi. Consider plugging in an Ethernet cable, instead, for the lowest latency.
Cellular data may not work
Generally, LTE (phone) internet providers cannot establish a direct connection to another computer. Please try switching to WiFi or Ethernet (a home/business network).
No public internet connection
Chordzy is unable to find a connection to the internet at all. If you are sure you are connected and this message appears, please contact support
Notes
If possible, enable IPv6 with your ISP/router.
