Download Chordzy Beta

Chordzy works in a web browser with nothing to install. The desktop app is the same Chordzy with two things a browser cannot give it.

The first is jamming. Two players connect straight to each other and play together over the internet, with a delay of around 20ms. Jams send each note as a UDP packet, the way many online games do, and web browsers do not support UDP. So jams only run in the app. That is also where your microphone and web cam come in: the app can send your voice and your face to the other players, and the website never asks for either.

The second is your keyboard. In a browser, a MIDI keyboard only works where the browser has Web MIDI, and Safari never has. The app talks to the keyboard itself, so on a Mac you do not have to switch browsers to play.

Version 0.0.1 build #3543 (released 1 day ago)

Download for MacOS
Download for Windows
Download for Linux (x86_64)

There are builds for macOS, Windows and Linux on x86_64. The line above the links gives the version, the build number and how long ago it came out. Phone and tablet versions are still in testing, so they are not here yet.

Each build installs the way its system expects. The Mac download is a disk image that Apple's notary service has checked. Open it and drag Chordzy onto the Applications folder next to it. The Windows download is an installer you run. The Linux download is a compressed archive: unpack it anywhere and start Chordzy from the folder.

Open the app once it is installed and sign in with the account you use on the website, or make one. Accounts are free, and your synth settings come along when you move between the browser and the app. New to Chordzy? Getting started covers what you need before the first lesson, and MIDI keyboards covers what to buy and how to plug one in.

Chordzy is in beta. If something breaks, the contact page reaches the people who can fix it, and the app's own contact button sends its recent logs along with you.
