Licensing
Licensing sheet music for print (or in apps) is necessary for you to be able to play them in Chordzy.
Public Domain
Luckily, there are some songs that don't require licensing.
Songs which are no longer in copyright can be freely used by Chordzy (which utilizes its own proprietary engraver).
Our sheet music catalog began with basic scales and exercises, and is quickly growing to include Classical works that are in the public domain.
Pop and Modern Music
Pop & modern music almost always costs us money to license.
The only exception to this rule is if you already have a license for a particular piece, yourself. In that case, we are working to allow you to upload your sheet music to Chordzy and use it directly within the app. This feature is currently in testing, and takes full advantage of how Chordzy teaches (introducing the song one piece at a time, splitting apart the hands, and helping you to build skill).
Future Deals
We are actively working on licensing deals for showtunes and some limited modern music. This is a costly process.
If you are a user of Chordzy, becoming a subscriber helps immensely. The revenue goes directly towards paying for the costs associated with striking licensing deals with the necessary big publishers.
