Adult Beginner Piano

It's never too late to learn the piano.

This course will teach you a simple song: (Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star) on your piano. It takes a "play first" approach, and then sprinkles in the music theory until you can actually read the sheet music!

Why Read Sheet Music?

The piano is perhaps the best instrument for understanding sheet music. There is a reason so many composers work with the piano in the early stages of creating new music. The very layout of the keys translates onto the page unlike any other instrument.

For many new musicians in particular, sheet music can be hard to make sense of. Music teachers (or just musical friends) have always been the ones to actually convey how music feels. As you'll see in later courses, some music is even hard to capture in written sheet music.

Chordzy helps you learn at all levels. The higher game levels test you on advanced topics like swing, dynamics, and other more... "expressive" musical concepts.

The point of learning sheet music is simply that it's the best written representation we have. However, the quality of sheet music varies wildly. This is why Chordzy features only a limited public library of sheet music so far. We are working hard on both vetting the quality of possible additions, as well as aquiring licensing.

What Else You'll Learn

Aside from playing by ear and sheet music basics, you'll pick up:

  • The Treble & Bass Clef
  • Time Signatures & Measures
  • The C Major Scale

You will able to play the music for each section by plugging in your MIDI keyboard.

No MIDI keyboard? No problem. Early lessons like these can be completed using the on-screen virtual keyboard.
